“All I did was sing:” Meet Whitley Gilbert

Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) was the perfect bitch in the first season of ADW–she did almost everything perfectly, and she seemed like she could do everything–play tennis, do yoga, ride horses–everything but the first postion of the Perfumed Garden because she was a virgin. By the sixth season, all the writers (inlcuding Guy) had assmiliated this heroine of All That Is Bitchy into a witless and gutless being. She knew that Freddie’s mother was white, not realizing that Cree Summer’s mother was black and Guy’s mother was white. She was called Whitey (sorry about that–that probably confused a lot of ya’ll–correction made 2/19/04), a possible pet peeve of Guy, who would probally insist that she is black. The most troubling thing to me is why did the writers want Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) to call Whitley Bunny when they finally were serious about each other. My guess: Jasmine Guy’s overbite+Jasmine’s nose+Jasmine’s ass=Bunny. (Of course, if Jasmine just happens to see this and disagree…)
