WOODEN SALAD BOWL ALERT

Saw the WOODEN SALAD BOWL in “Tales From the Exam Zone” when Freddie, Evil Freddie, Kim and Matthew are studying.

Today’s topic is the sexual side of food sharing in ADW, particularly in the fourth season.

Some pop-culture experts cite food-sharing as a way to show sexual expression. I find it odd that “Mama” Whitley ends up suggesting cookies in several of the show’s episodes to various men, such as Ron and Alex (the little boy in “Blues for No One’s Child”) before she finally hooks up with Dwayne, and when she does, she finally gives her cookies to him. However, there is “Love Thy Neighbor” when Dwayne, after rejecting Whitley’s offer of dinner, takes the initiative and buys dinner for him and Whitley only to have Ray Nay cook them dinner…of course, I could be reading into this a bit too much…

A few things…

Happy 35th birthday to Cree Summer today. I was off last week.

A first-season goof on ADW, which is really rare because all the goofs start happening when that “perfectionist” Debbie Allen started directing on a regular basis. (I hope I didn’t put this up here already, and if I did, I’m sorry.) In “War of the Words,” when Dwayne enters Gilbert Hall and talks to Whitley, she’s first holding a fashion magazine in her hands, trying to read while she insults Dwayne. Later the fashion magazine turns into Current catalogue. I’m convinced. With this sighting and some other sightings you can read on this blog and at tvtome.com, Whitley must be a witch.I would end this post with the lyrics from “Happy Birthday,” but I would have to pay if I did that.

Roseanne References (some)

Just a quick list of things I’ve noticed that are eerily the same on Roseanne and ADW, since they were both owned by Carsey-Werner and, at one point in their careers, aired in the same year.

-I’ve noticed that, on one episode of Roseanne, the one where Roseanne works in a greasy spoon and a motorcycle shop, the greasy spoon looks a lot like the International House of Flapjacks in “White Christmas.”

-One of Roseanne’s daughters (I don’t follow the show, sorry) wears a shirt similar to the one Jaleesa wears in “It Happened One Night.”

-I’ve seen in the Roseanne Oxygen promos that weird football helmet/antler poster that’s also seen in Jaleesa’s room.
